The temperature dropped and the sun came out. The creek reflected the sun-gilded pines.
Birds were scarce till after lunch. Mallards, hooded mergansers, pintails, geese, and cormorants paddled on the creek while egrets fished the lake. Finally the feeder birds came out: at least two titmice, a downy, and chickadees. On the ground, there were white throats and juncos.
A red tailed hawk exited upstream pursued by crows. It may be why the birds were so late.
The late afternoon light illuminated dabbling mallards - 2 males & 1 female, pintails and hooded mergansers - all female. White throats and juncos poked in the mulch while the sick finch bumbled around.
