Muted sunshine was casting soft shadows. Hooded mergansers were out on the creek. Later I saw the two great blue herons that seem to chase each other around the creek. Pintails joined the hooded mergansers. Pelicans fished. 
As we prepared lunch, we were visited by juncos, chickadees, finches, wrens and woodpeckers. The female finch with the infected eye took a bath. I suppose I should hose out the birdbath. In the afternoon, the clouds got thicker and blocked the sun.
