Thunderstorms with a side of turtle

We found a large turtle in the pool this morning.  K put the painter's platform in the water for it to climb out, but no joy.  Meanwhile the hot sunshine of the morning disappeared and rain began at lunch, followed by thunder and lightning.

In other news, a cabbage white, a black and a tiger swallowtail visited, and I think that things too fast to identify were dragonflies. A brown thrasher eyed the turtle but pursued smaller stuff.  The female cardinal continued to hunt bugs inside the trash barrel while the two males squared off, yet again.  The wrens also kept up their squabbling.  A squirrel behaved oddly in the mulch, rubbing its bottom on the bark chips.
