There was some sun, but more gloom, and it was windy until late afternoon. The temperature was still unseasonably warm. Overnight buds popped and leaves began to peek out, particularly on the cherry. Juncos foraged and starlings ravaged the suet.
At lunch, all three woodpecker species visited, though the pileated was there and gone in a flash. Gulls and pelicans were plunging into the creek but I didn't see any ducks or cormorants.
I went shopping for bird accessories but had no luck. When I got back, the sky had cleared and buffleheads were diving. I saw what I thought was a heron on the far bank of the lake, but photos revealed it was a cormorant.
