Breakfast was overcast but the sky cleared by 11am. A male pileated woodpecker came to the feeder while another lurked on a pine trunk in a neighbor's yard. There were downy woodpeckers and the female red bellied woodpecker as well. The warbler was shut out. Cardinals and house finches came for seeds. Pelicans, herons, gulls, cormorants, and a male hooded merganser fished on the creek but an osprey just flew over.
Around mid day a bluebird perched on the neighbor's dock piling. Geese lined the bulkhead, preening in the sun.
I guess the fates decided I'd been blessed enough for one day. I didn't see any different birds for the rest of the day. The sky was cloudless all day till the setting sun disappeared into cloud in the West.
