Still hot

The sky grew more cloudy as the day progressed.  I saw less of the day than I wanted.  At breakfast, juncos, doves, white throated sparrows, starlings, the warbler, visited the feeders and the ground underneath.  A pair of mallards were on the dock with the female perched on the bench.

In the afternoon, big carpenter bees had a good time with the rosemary. Downy woodpeckers visited the suet and a tufted titmouse finally got some seeds in peace.  Buds were beginning on the blueberries and I saw maple trees showing color.  A few hooded mergansers paddled and preened.  With the wind's help, the tide went way out in the late afternoon.  Sunset was more muted than yesterday.
