The two male cardinals were still going at it. A Carolina wren came for mealworms. A blue jay appeared to be hunting bugs in the cherry. And the hummer competed with ants for sugar water.
The downy woodpecker put in an appearance at lunch and later. I saw the hummer feeding on the flowers behind me but she seemed to see me move and flew away. A squirrel was doing something mysterious up in the hackberry tree. There were actual hackberry berries so maybe it was eating them?
At supper the downy was back and acting fierce on the feeder. A wren got more mealworms. And the hummer stuffed herself.
