Gusty winds ensured every surface got wet. Egrets on the creek were a startling white against the prevailing green. House finches and cardinals came to the feeder. The two males tolerated each other and one did the "feed me" shiver so they may be father and son. The hummer dodged raindrops to get some juice. A couple of white throated sparrows foraged.
A male goldfinch joined the cardinals at lunch. Then a flock of house finches took over. The hummer was back despite the rain.
The wind got really gusty and fierce toward evening. It pushed the tide up into the grass. A cardinal hunkered close to the ground but finally gave up. When it calmed a bit all the regulars came to supper. I finished nailing the birdhouse and made a poor job of it.
