They were the first pelicans of this winter season. One followed another upstream but then peeled off and returned down the creek. I did not see the other come back and I didn't get a picture. Cormorants fished and a great blue heron watched.
Since 1/1/11 I have been describing what I see in the back yard. I occasionally digress.

Pelicans!
It was sunny, warmer, and calmer. Red breasted nuthatches and titmice craved seeds. The downy woodpecker had to share suet with a warbler. Lots of juncos darted around the patio and a Carolina wren checked out any potential food. The brown thrasher ruled the bark butter balls.
