Hot and humid

The sky was blue and there was a breeze, but is was already sticky at sun up.  Bugs were flying and something dipped into the pool a couple of times.  Fascinating ripple and convection patterns move through the water before the pump comes on.

Bees, wasps, a leafhopper (specifically an adult spittlebug), a confused moth, battling skippers, a cloudless sulphur, and a dragonfly came out in the heat.  So did a skink.  A chickadee and the ubiquitous crows were all the birds.

The black bug with red lines is the leafhopper, or froghopper, or two-lined spittlebug.  The fiery skipper on the portulaca kept getting into aerial fights with another fiery skipper
